My name is Helen Russell. I have been working with people confronting trauma and healing for over 20 years. Over that time, I have learned to implement four fundamental principles for lasting change.

One of the pieces that is often missing is the understanding of timing.
HOW IT WORKS:
The reason, sometimes, that some therapies don’t have the effect you might expect is because any type of trauma to the body involves the central nervous system (CNS) which can get stuck in survival mode. What can happen is that some therapies can actually re-activate the body’s sense of needing to protect itself and inadvertently increase the stimulus. The CNS then remains stuck in the fight, flight and freeze mode which inhibits healing.
Through helping hundreds of people over 20 years, I’ve observed four fundamental principles for lasting change.

- The nervous system needs spaciousness to reset to normal rhythms...
